With the reopening of the schools, the Dubai Municipality has started a food safety campaign, which includes inspections and awareness visits, in educational institutions.
The campaign targets about 300 educational institutions from both the government and private sectors and will continue until next month, Sultan Ali Al Taher who heads the Food Inspection Section at the Food Control Department of the civic body, said in a Press release.
During the visits, the section will collect samples of drinking water and food items served at the institutions for lab tests and check whether the catering companies and other food suppliers are approved by the department.
Kitchen and food serving areas in the institutions will be inspected to ensure the specifications and other requirements are duly met.
During the campaign, municipal officials will educate the school managements on how to be more alert on the health and safety aspects. The health supervisor programme will also be introduced during these visits.
Al Taher said the Dubai Municipality is planning to organise special training sessions for those running canteens collaborating with approved groups having expertise and experience in this field.
Officials will distribute the recently published health practice guide to school authorities and will educate them on how to implement its contents.
He asked the management of educational institutions to contact the Food Control Department for information regarding approved companies, training and the health supervisor programme.
Congratulation!
