8th WFA and Expo in Dubai to highlight opportunities in MENA's $30-billion franchise economy

The UAE and the rest of the MENA region, whose current $30-billion franchise economy is expanding yearly by 27 per cent, have opened up to offer lucrative opportunities for franchisors looking to build a strong regional market foothold. The move is part of their economic development agendas. The local franchise sector continues to be at its peak as franchising remains the preferred model for businesses averse to the risk and significant capital investment associated with joint ventures.

Christopher Brinkley, Director of Events, World Franchise Associates, said, “The UAE is witnessing a rapidly expanding economy fuelled by large-scale infrastructure projects launched in part for the upcoming World Expo 2020 in Dubai. These mega projects – some of which are still in the pipeline - have resulted in the creation of value-added jobs that continue to attract professionals from all over the world who are ready to take advantage of the many lucrative opportunities in the State. The expatriates’ strong preference for global brands has naturally brought the local franchising sector to new levels of growth. The 8th edition of the World Franchise Forum and Expo in Dubai will showcase these bright prospects. The event will also serve as an ideal venue to demonstrate our full support for the UAE Vision 2021 by highlighting prime domestic franchising opportunities.”

Many international brands are already in the process of expanding to the Middle East through their franchise partners, with the UAE and the rest of the GCC States among their key targets. More than 50 per cent of retail sales in the GCC are generated from international brands. Particular areas of opportunity exist in retail, food and beverage, education, transportation, tourism, and healthcare sectors. Interest among global brands is growing as economic data proves the profitability of franchised outlets is very often much higher in the Middle East than in a franchisor’s home country.

The exhibition’s latest edition is looking to further this expansion by representing nearly 200 national and international brands during the two-day show.  Under the theme ‘Building Franchise Business Worldwide,’ this year’s World Franchise Forum and Exhibition aims to provide all participants with the essential tools to thrive in the flourishing national and international franchise markets.

The event also aspires to meet the UAE Government’s vision of empowering its citizens and residents with the widest choice of franchised businesses. There will be opportunities for investors to meet franchisors within a full program of in-depth presentations, seminars and workshops. With world-class speakers, a wide range of brands and presentations, and 1-2-1 business meetings, the franchise event is a ‘must attend’ for those serious about franchising.
